Benefits of using door finger plates

1. Prevent long-term damage

The primary benefit of incorporating finger plates into your space is that they can minimise the wear and tear of your doors. Although regular door usage may initially lead to superficial blemishes, scratches and fingerprints, in time, these marks could turn into more serious damage, that may result in you needing to fix or replace your door. Fortunately, door finger plates are a highly effective solution, allowing users to push the plates rather than the door itself.

2. Aesthetics

Push plates were originally designed to minimise door damage, but overtime, have been developed in a way so that they also add an aesthetic function to your doors. Available in a variety of materials, there is a finger plate to suit the style of any room, whether that be the addition of polished brass for its traditional elegance, or stainless steel for a more modern touch.

Common applications for finger plates

Commercial corridors

Door push plates are widely used in commercial spaces where footfall is particularly high. You will often see hallways and corridors in schools, offices and other places of work utilising them for these are areas that typically experience the highest amount of traffic.

Healthcare facilities

Hospitals, clinics and other healthcare settings often use push plates to help maintain a hygienic environment. Door finger plates enable patients, visitors and staff to move between rooms without having to touch door handles, minimising cross-contamination. Push plates can also be easily cleaned at the end of each day.

Materials and finishes

At Cooke Brothers, our standard finger plates are made from stainless steel with a satin polished finish. Satin stainless steel push plates are suitable for both internal and external applications and are significantly more durable than plastic alternatives. This combination of corrosion resistance, durability and aesthetic appeal makes stainless steel an excellent choice for finger plates, particularly in environments where longevity and performance are imperative.

Although available in stainless steel 304 as standard, our push plates can be customised using your preferred material. Here are some other materials you can choose from:

Stainless steel 316 grade

Marine grade stainless steel specified for high corrosion environments including coastal and high humidity applications.

Solid brass

A premium material used for decorative and traditional applications. A wide variety of antique finishes can be applied.

Aluminium

Lightweight and strong with good corrosion resistance.

Our various finishes can also be customised to suit your design needs and are available in satin polished, bright polished, black powder coat & white powder coat.
